One Dead in a Quad City Challenger II aircraft crash near Talon Lake

one occupant has been pronounced deceased after the aircraft went down into the bush area approximately 100 meters from the lake in Rutherglen Township.

Members of the North Bay Detachment of the OPP, along with the Bonfield Fire Department and the Bonfield Ambulance Service responded to the crash shortly before 10:00am.

“The aircraft went down into the bush area approximately 100 metres from Talon Lake in Rutherglen Township, Ontario,” stated OPP Constable Jennifer Smith in a release.

The OPP Forensic Identification Services, the Transportation Safety Board (TSB) and the Office of the Chief Coroner- Ontario Forensic Pathology Service (OCC-FPS) have been notified and are assisting with this investigation.

First responders, including volunteer firefighters, paramedics and police attended the scene of the crash.

A team of investigators from the Transportation Safety Board (TSB) is responding to the “air accident involving a Quad City Challenger II ultralight aircraft near North Bay, Ontario. The TSB will gather information and assess the occurrence.”
