1 Dead & 1 injured in a aircraft crashed into vehicles force landing on road

According to the Phoenix Fire Department, one person is dead and 1  injured after a Stolp SA-750 Acroduster Too experimental plane went down in the roadway near Deer Valley Airport in Phoenix

The small plane went down just before 7 a.m. near Seventh Street and Deer Valley Road.

Phoenix fire Capt. Jake Van Hook said the victim, a man in his 40s, was transported to a local Valley hospital in stable but critical condition. The other victim was pronounced deceased at the scene.

At least two vehicles were struck by the plane while it crashed. Van Hook said no one inside the vehicles reported any injuries.

The FAA says the aircraft involved is a single-engine, home-built Acroduster.

He said no flames were reported following the crash, however, fuel did spill over the roadway.

“We did have hazmat crews come out and monitor the air,” Van Hook said. “We will leave a crew on scene to be a liaison for that hazmat component.”

The Phoenix Police Department said there will be extended road closures for the deadly plane crash.

Phoenix police Sgt. Mercedes Fortune said Deer Valley Road is closed from 19th Avenue to 16th Street. Seventh Street is also closed from the Loop 101 to Pinnacle Peak Road.
