Russian media claimed the aircraft had all flown close to Russia’s borders sparking a major military response.

According to the data, all the foreign aircraft were registered as being on reconnaissance flights.

All were buzzed off by Russian Air Force fighter jets, state media reported.

It added that “there were no violations of state borders” over the past week.

The news comes as tensions rise over Russia’s military presence in its border territories.

Russia has also been flexing its might in the Middle East, with thousands of troops based in Syria.
