India tri-service chiefs press Briefing: Shared evidence of F-16 being used in Pakistani raid – F-16 fired AIM-120 AM-RAAM missile’

In a highly rare instance, top officials of all three arms of Indian armed forces held a tri-service press conference today and has shared conclusive evidence that Pakistan Air Force (PAF) F-16s were involved in the aerial engagement on the LoC

India tri-service chiefs addressed the Indian public over developments between the security forces of India and Pakistan in the last couple of days. The press conference was addressed by Major General Surendra Singh Mahal, Air Vice Marshal RGK Kapoor and Navy Rear Admiral DS Gujral.

Air Vice Marshal RGK Kapoor: IAF radars detected a breach in Indian airspace in West Rajouri and Sunderbani area prompting the air force to task a Sukhoi-30MKI, a Mirage 2000, and a MiG 21 Bison to respond

Contrary to Pakistan’s official statement, a package of PAF’s F16s was sent to target military installations in India, said Air Vice Marshal RGK Kapoor. He added that the PAF bombs did not cause considerable damage on Indian soil.  He also showed the media part of an AMRAAM missile which is only fitted in F16 fighter jets. 

Major General Surendra Singh Mahal: There have been over 35 ceasefire violations by the Pakistan army on the LOC in the past two days. Our mechanised units are on standby and jawans have been asked to stay alert.

Navy Rear Admiral DS Gujral: The Indian armed forces are ready to secure our country on the surface, underwater and in the air.

When asked about the promised release of wing commander Abhinandan Varthaman, Air Vice Marshal RGK Kapoor said that the Indian Air Force and the country fervently await Abhinandan’s return.
