In the morning of July 15, 2021, a formation of few Romanian Air Force helicopters and three US Army Black Hawk helicopters were involved in a training flight above Bucharest, Romania.

According to witnesses, one of the Black Hawks started a rapid descent after passing the monument on Aviatorilor Avenue. After that, the helicopter touched two street light poles and landed in Charles de Gaulle Place.

The helicopter was part of the formation of aircraft performing a low-altitude training flight over Bucharest as part of the training program for July 20.

The reason for the landing is currently unknown, but Romanian officials are talking about a possible technical problem.

All aircraft, several Romanian helicopters, and three US Army helicopters crossed Bucharest information on Thursday morning around 10:10 from south to north, over Piata Unirii and Bulevardul Aviatorilor.

Other aircraft, including two Spartan planes, a Hercules and a Boeing 737-700, which were also to cross the capital at low altitude, were forced to abandon the exercise.

The Black Hawk US Army helicopters that participated in this training are stationed at Mihail Kogălniceanu airbase in Constanța county.
