Pakistan foiled an Indian attempt to target three airbases with air-to-surface missiles, DG ISPR said in a press conference in the wee hours of Saturday.
“India fired air-to-surface missiles from its planes targeting NurKhan airbase, Mureed Airbase, and Shorkot airbase,” he said.
“All are assets safe,” Pakistan military spokesperson said. “Now, wait for our response.”
Multiple explosions were heard in Rawalpindi and Lahore on Friday night.
Two blasts were heard in Rawalpindi. The one in Pindi was heard near the Nur Khan Airbase in Chaklala. Police have cordoned off the area, while rescue teams have also reached the spot.
Security sources say the attempted Indian attack near Chaklala’s Nur Khan Airbase has been foiled. In a hurriedly called news conference on Friday night, ISPR chief Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry explained that India fired missiles from the air to ground, targeting Nur Khan Air Base, Mureed Base in Chakwal, and the Shorkot base.
“However, all assets of the Pakistan Air Force are safe,” the DG assured. “Now you wait for our response.”
He also revealed that India fired missiles in Afghanistan. “India is pushing the entire region into war,” the military spokesperson declared.
On the other hand, multiple blasts were heard in Lahore also. The nature and exact location of both incidents are being determined.
Earlier, Inter-Services Public Relations director-general Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry has said that India has fired “six ballistic missiles from Adampur” with one targeting “their own general area of Adampur and five have targeted the Indian Punjab general area of Amritsar”.
Adampur is a town in the Jalandhar district of Indian Punjab.
“India is targeting through its schemes, populations of Sikhs in Indian Punjab. All our sympathies are with Sikhs and minorities who are falling victim to its (India’s) own internal conspiracies.
“This is a shocking development and provocation of the highest order, where India has now started firing ballistic missiles at its own population, which doesn’t make any sort of sense. This is an act bereft of sanity.”
