On 24 may 2018 a Brazilian Air Force F-5 fighter jet crashed in the Rio de Janeiro
Aircraft took off from Santa Cruz Air Force base west of Rio de Janeiro on a training flight
Shortly after takeoff fighter ran into trouble
Both pilots ejected before the aircraft plummeted into a field and injured themselves on landing
The pilot and co-pilot were picked up and taken to the hospital
No one was hurt on the ground
The cause of the crash is still unknown
Brazil has 60 f-5 fighters and air force plans to replace F-5 after the delivery of 36 Gripens from Sweden’s Saab AB.
