A source in the emergency services told the Russian media that the pilots were found and that their lives weren’t in danger. They were evacuated by a helicopter.
The previous crash of a military aircraft during a training flight occurred on August 18 near Astrakhan.
The upgraded MiG-29SMT was not carrying an arms load when it crashed in a deserted area of the Astrakhan region that borders the Caspian Sea, the Defense Ministry’s Southern Military District was quoted as saying.
The plane crashed due to equipment failure. The pilot was killed.
