A Mil Mi-8 helicopter of the Border Service of the FSB of Russia crashed near Prudny, Chelyabinsk region. All four occupants were killed.
“During a scheduled flight near the village of Prudny in the Sosnovsky district, a Mi-8 helicopter crashed in the forest,” the source said.
As the TASS agency clarified, this helicopter, according to preliminary data, belonged to the FSB of the Russian Federation. TASS reports four dead.
There was no damage to buildings or individuals on the ground.
The helicopter was on a training flight with four people on board, Russian state-run news agency TASS wrote, citing aviation services.
According to eyewitnesses, before falling, the helicopter “dangled strongly from side to side, and then went down like a stone,” Russian media outlet 112 reported on Telegram.
Aviation accidents are common in Russia due to lax safety rules and poor maintenance and have become even more frequent after Moscow sent troops to Ukraine last year.
The Mi-8 AMTSh is an armored assault version of the Mi-8AMT helicopter and is primarily used to carry troops and cargo. It carries a number of ground-attack weapons and can operate at night and in all weather conditions.
