The Libyan Army under the command of the Government of National Accord has seized a Mil Mi-8 helicopter of Khalifa Haftar’s Libyan National Army forces in southern Abu Grein; western Sirte.
After making an emergency landing, the LNA pilot fled the scene. Images show damage to the fuselage and cockpit.
The helicopter was confiscated by armed forces of the Government of National Accord (GNA).
In some reports the crash date is status as 12 April 2020.
The spokesman for the Libyan Army Mohammed Gununu said Monday the helicopter had an emergency landing in Abu Grein in April 12, 2020 but the GNA forces delayed the seizure process for logistical reasons.
The same news was announced by the spokesman for the Sirte-Jufra Operations Room Abdelhadi Drah, who added that Haftar’s forces had been continuing their violations of the ceasefire by firing late on Saturday ten Grad rockets on GNA positions.
