An Afghan Air Force Sikorsky UH-60A Blackhawk made an emergency landing and caught fire. At least two occupants members were injured.
The incident happened about 8:40 am local time in Kajaki district the statement said, adding that “five crew members were wounded slightly.”
Afghan media quoted officials as saying the military chopper made a crash landing, wounding two soldiers, however, locals in Kajaki claim Taliban shot it down.
Information gathered by the Regional Telegraph revealed that the Black Hawk helicopter was part of a mission against, what they called, ‘insurgents’ in the area and was evacuating injured soldiers when it was hit by ‘enemy fire’
The Afghan government has yet to release an official statement, while no one has claimed responsibility for downing the military chopper as yet.
The Taliban have not commented on the incident.
