Ukraine’s Operation Dragonfly Destroys Nine Russian Helicopters

In a bold move to safeguard its territorial integrity, Ukraine’s Special Operations Forces (SSO) have successfully executed precision strikes on two Russian airbases located in the occupied cities of Berdiansk and Luhansk. The operation, codenamed ‘Dragonfly’, targeted vital Russian military infrastructure, resulting in significant losses on the adversary’s side.

The SSO, in collaboration with the Armed Forces, initiated Operation Dragonfly after receiving crucial intelligence regarding the adversary’s extensive use of the airfields in the temporarily occupied regions. This intelligence revealed a substantial presence of aviation assets, specialized equipment, and stockpiled ammunition.

Following thorough verification and confirmation, the SSO shared coordinates and vital data with the Armed Forces, enabling a precision strike.

The operation, conducted during the night of October 16th to 17th, resulted in the destruction of nine helicopters of various modifications, a Pantsir anti-aircraft missile system, significant damage to an ammunition depot, and rendered the runways unusable at both airfields.

“The detonations at the ammunition depot in Berdiansk persisted until 4 a.m., while in Luhansk, the detonation continued until 11 a.m.,” stated the SSO’s press release.

This operation not only disrupted the adversary’s operations but also dealt a severe blow to their control over the temporarily occupied regions. The success of Operation Dragonfly underscores the dedication and professionalism of Ukraine’s military in safeguarding the nation’s sovereignty.

Russian military sources have described this attack as ‘one of the most serious blows of all time in the special military operation.’ However, there has been no official comment from the Russian military at this time.

Furthermore, unverified reports suggest the use of American-supplied ATACMS missiles in the operation. These missiles, although previously discussed, were not officially announced as part of Ukraine’s military aid. Images circulating on social media indicate the possible use of these missiles, potentially signifying a significant enhancement of Ukraine’s capabilities.

In response to the attack, Western analysts believe Russia is intensifying efforts to secure the eastern city of Avdiivka, seen as a strategic objective in controlling the Donetsk region. The British Ministry of Offence has characterized this recent offensive as the most significant since January.

Ukrainian forces have managed to repel numerous attacks in recent days, reflecting their determination to resist Russian advances. As the situation unfolds, the international community watches closely, hoping for a resolution that ensures peace and stability in the region.
