Paramount Pictures Released the First Official Trailer of Top Gun: Maverick on July 18, 2019. The hotly anticipated sequel to the 1986 Navy fighter flick Top Gun may have been delayed until 2021, but one enterprising YouTuber is keeping the excitement alive, and coincidentally, making me really wish I could time-travel back to my childhood when the biggest concern I had was trying to make my LEGO creation look like what was on the box.

OnBeatMan aka Gus Danko, is an American brickfilmer, and he recently took to social media to release his Lego trailer of the Tom Cruise film.

The full-length trailer, which reportedly took months to recreate, replaces the real-life footage with LEGO recreations, frame-by-frame, keeping the original audio intact, of course.

From the facial expressions on the LEGO characters to the incredible flying action scenes, the entire thing has been made more “awesome” by turning it into a LEGO adventure.

The video has already been viewed over 400,000 times, proving the quality of the recreation. You can watch the full trailer below:

The LEGO animation quality is up there with the professional LEGO action seen in The LEGO Movie.

Top Gun: Maverick trailer recreation does have a level of quality rarely seen in these types of fan remakes, marking it out as unique.

Danko said that he created the entire project, one frame at a time, using only a Canon t6i camera, a 2017 iMac, and a 2011 MacBook Pro.

The project took Danko several months to complete (no surprise there!) and was not supported in any way by the studio or the producers.

That’s dedication. Augustus will probably be one of the first in line when the film is released.

This video is a testament to the influence of “Top Gun” among aviation lovers +30 years since it was released in 1986.

The original movie has influenced and inspired generations of enthusiasts all around the world and this explains the spasmodic wait for the sequel “Top Gun: Maverick” hitting the theaters in July 2021.
