Another IAF Sukhoi Su-30MKI Crashes In Nashik District

An IAF Sukhoi Su-30MKI fighter jet crashed under unknown circumstances in Nashik district. Both the pilots ejected safely and suffered minor injuries. They were shifted to the HAL hospital and have been given the required treatment

After it crashed, the aircraft caught fire which was doused. The parts of the plane are now spread in a 500-metre radius, he said.

The aircraft was undergoing flight testing post-overhaul and was under HAL’s inventory, therefore a formal statement may be sought from HAL, IAF sources said.  The Teams of the Indian Air Force, HAL security, and HAL technical unit visited the spot to assess the incident.

The Indian Air Force (IAF) has experienced several crashes involving the Sukhoi Su-30MKI aircraft since its induction. Here is the list of IAF Su-30MKI crashes from 2009 to 2022:

1. April 30, 2009 – Su-30MKI crashed near Jaisalmer, Rajasthan. One pilot died due to injuries sustained during ejection, and the other ejected safely.
2. November 30, 2009 – Su-30MKI crashed near Jaisalmer, Rajasthan. Both pilots ejected safely.
3. December 13, 2011 – Su-30MKI crashed near Pune, Maharashtra. Both pilots ejected safely.
4. February 19, 2013 – Su-30MKI crashed near Pokhran, Rajasthan. Both pilots ejected safely.
5. October 14, 2014 – Su-30MKI crashed near Pune, Maharashtra. Both pilots ejected safely.
6. May 19, 2015 – Su-30MKI crashed near Tezpur, Assam. Both pilots ejected safely.
7. March 15, 2017 – Su-30MKI crashed in Rajasthan. Both pilots ejected safely.
8. May 23, 2017 – Su-30MKI crashed near Tezpur, Assam. Both pilots died.
9. June 27, 2018 – Su-30MKI crashed near Nashik, Maharashtra. Both pilots ejected safely.
10. August 8, 2019 – Su-30MKI crashed near Tezpur, Assam. Both pilots ejected safely.
11. September 25, 2019 – Su-30MKI crashed in the Siang district, Arunachal Pradesh. Both pilots ejected safely.
12. March 10, 2020 – Su-30MKI crashed near Tezpur, Assam. Both pilots ejected safely.
13. August 12, 2020 – Su-30MKI crashed in the Barmer district, Rajasthan. Both pilots ejected safely.
14. October 21, 2022 – Su-30MKI crashed in the Jaisalmer district, Rajasthan. Both pilots ejected safely.
