The Russian Ministry of Defense has released an interesting video of Russian Il-76MD Performing Tactical Landing On Dirt Strip Escorted By Mi-24s.
An Il-76MD cargo aircraft landed on an unpaved runway located near Sol-Iletsk, Orenburg Region, during a technical support exercise (MTO) of the Russian Federation Armed Forces in the Central Military District.
What makes the video particularly interesting is the fact that the Il-76 was escorted by two Mi-24 helicopters during the landing and subsequent takeoff from the dirt strip runway, a tactic reminiscent of the operations conducted by the Mi-24V in the 1980s during the Soviet – Afghan war.
After landing, the aircraft was serviced and unloading and loading operations were also simulated as part of the drills that also included a simulated attack on the airflied and a firefighting operation on an Mi-8AMTSh helicopter “damaged” by saboteurs. Special MTO exercises are held under the leadership of Deputy Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation Army General Dmitry Bulgakov. По сценарию самолет перевозил средства МТО сил, участвующих в учении. Во взаимодействии с аэродромными службами специалисты выполнили обслуживание авиатехники и погрузку имущества.
Также в ходе учения был разыгран эпизод по отражению нападения на самолет условных диверсантов, в котором был задействован личный состав подразделений Центрального военного округа и военной полиции, а подразделение противопожарной охраны аэродрома продемонстрировало работу по тушению «поврежденного» диверсантами вертолета Ми-8АМТШ.
Специальные учения МТО проходят под руководством замминистра обороны РФ генерала армии Дмитрия Булгакова. В них принимает участие более 30 тыс. военнослужащих, свыше 7 тыс. единиц техники, до 90 самолетов и вертолетов Центрального, Западного, Южного и Восточного военных округов, а также подразделений МТО ВКС и ВДВ.
