Landing gear : In Air force fighter jets landing gear is not going to be nearly as bulky as much the weight of plane down a little bit so we got to be able to get as much thrust out of airplane as possible but airplane should be to durable too we it can endure alot of thrust vectoring .Variable geometry Exhaust are used to get much thrust out of the engine
Wings : For a navy airplane the wings also need to be able to fold and to be able to put high G loads on and fold the links wings should be made heavy and strong
Folding wings , landing gears and all the other modification make a navy jet suitable for carrier operation but dosen’t make it lightest and aerodynamically perfect
There is a bit compromise b/w how much punishment a jet can take and how good it can perform specially at high altitude , low altitude and how well a plane can accelerate
