2 Killed in a Quicksilver Ultralight plane crash in Carroll County
Two people were killed when a plane crashed into a field in Carroll County, Maryland on Aug. 18, 2018.

Two people have died after a small Quicksilver Ultralight plane crashed in Westminster

The pilot and a passenger were killed, police said. They were the only ones on board.

Maryland State Police said the crash happened shortly after takeoff, not far from a private airstrip. Police say the pilot and one passenger were the only people on board.

It happened just before 11 a.m. in the 1200 block of Baugher Road near Baugher’s Orchard and Farm.

MSP says the pilot and passenger died at the scene. Officials aren’t releasing the names of the victims until their families have been notified.

The 2006 Ultralight Quicksilver single-engine plane crashed soon after take-off from a private airstrip.

The Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board are working together to investigate a cause of the crash.

No further information was immediately available.
