A Boeing 737 passenger plane with 104 people on board crashes in Havana
The Cubana de Aviacion flight was en route from Havana to Holguin with 105 passengers and crew on board
The plane crashed shortly after taking off from Havana’s main airport on a domestic flight, killing more than 110 people.
Local media reported that three survivors – all women – were in a critical condition after the Boeing 737 jet, which was en route from Jose Marti International Airport to the eastern Cuban city of Holguin, came down. The announcement put the presumed number of dead at 101.

The jet came down close to the airport with photos shared on social media showing a large plume of thick, black smoke rising from near the terminal buildings.
Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel is at the scene of the crash.
The aircraft is believed to be a Boeing 737-400, built in 1992. It is believed to be on loan from an Italian carrier, Blue Panorama
