Colombian Air Force Helicopter Crash Kills All Six On-board

Fuerza Aérea Colombiana (Colombian Air Force) Bell 412 helicopter with registration number FAC-0006 went missing after takeoff.

The wreckage was found on Saturday 26 October 2019. All six occupants died in the crash, pilot, co-pilot and 4 technicians.

The occupants, as RCN Radio could verify, would be Lieutenant Colonel Mario Gómez, Mayor Alzate, Chief Technician Nelson Bautista, Technician Segundo Castellanos, Technician Segundo Mejía and Technician Fourth David Lopez Mejia.

The Bell 412 took off Palanquero Air Base, in Puerto Salgar and was flying toward the Maintenance Air Command, in the municipality of Madrid, in Cundinamarca.

This is the statement released by the Colombian Air Force confirms the accident:

The cause of the crash is still unknown.

The helicopter, a Bell 412 of FAC registration, was in the service of the Presidency of the Republic since 2012 and was acquired from Bell Helicopter Textron for an amount of $ 16,875 million pesos, in order to expand and strengthen the fleet of aircraft at the service of the president on duty.
