on 21 May 2020, after suffering hydraulic failure, a Brazilian Air Force Embraer C-95M Bandeirante of Rumba Squadron (1º/5º GAv) made an emergency landing without landing gear on runway 34R at Natal Air Force Base. There were no injuries.
According to available preliminary information, the military transport turboprop suffered a hydraulic failure during the approach and the landing gear has not been extended; Despite the scare, there were no injuries and the plane suffered substantial damage. The incident will be investigated by the High Command of Aeronautics (COMAER).
The incident occurred in the late afternoon, when the C-95M, the military transport version of the EMB110 Bandeirante, assigned to the Rumba Squadron (1st / 5th GAV), was preparing to land at the Natal Air Base (BANT), known as the old Augusto Severo International Airport. During the approach, the crew had reported the loss of one of the aircraft’s hydraulic systems and as a consequence, the landing gear has not extended.
The base’s air traffic control (CTA) quickly deployed teams from the aerodrome’s Rescue and Fire Extinguishing Service (SESCINC) to accompany the landing of the military turboprop, which occurred without trains on runway 34R (right), which It has 2,600 meters in length, without major setbacks or incidents.
The military on board have evacuated safely and there were no injuries; To avoid the risk of fire from the fuselage rubbing against the asphalt surface, emergency crews sprayed fire fighting foam to cool the plane.
The aircraft sustained substantial damage to the underside of the fuselage and to the propeller blades of both Pratt & Whitney PT6A-27 engines.
Through a statement, the Aeronautical Social Communication Center (CECOMSAER) confirmed the incident, caused by a technical problem, noting that the entire crew was unharmed; the causes will be investigated by the High Command of Aeronautics (COMAER).
Embraer please don’t merge with endian Hal. Look your aircraft just crash landed even just endian are talking about a merger. Imagine what will happen if you really merge with them.
