A small Cessna 414 plane crashed at a parking lot in Santa Ana, killing all five people aboard
All the fatalities were in the plane, a Cessna that was on approach to John Wayne Orange County Airport, said Orange County Fire Authority Capt. Steve Concialdi from the scene. There were no survivors, he said.
There was no fire, and no one on the ground was reported injured, he said. The airport continued operating after the crash, he said.
The plane went down at about 12:29 p.m. into the parking lot of a Staples Supercenter, 3861 S. Bristol St. The parking lot is shared by Staples, a CVS drug store, a Michaels’ decorations store, and a Wells Fargo Bank branch, among other stores.

The twin-engine aircraft went down in the 3900 block of Bristol Street
The crash happened in the parking lot of a Staples store, spokesman Stephen Consiglio told the Los Angeles Times.
The plane hit a vehicle but nobody in the car was hurt, Consiglio added.
The aircraft was heading to John Wayne Airport, spokeswoman Deanne Thompson said, but it was unclear where it was coming from.
All operations at the airport are normal at this time, according to Thompson.
The plane was registered to a San Francisco company and had flown from the East bay suburb of Concord, according to FAA records.
