Algerian Air Force Sukhoi Su-30 belonging to the 121st Fighter Squadron crashed in the early evening during a routine exercise in the town of Ain Zitoun in Algeria.
The pilot and navigator had not survived the accident.
Rescuers quickly arrived on the scene and an investigation should be launched.
The Algerian Air Force is the aerial arm of the Algerian People’s Military. During March 2006, Algeria ordered 28 Su-30MKAs, 16 Yak-130As, and 34 MiG-29SMTs from Russia.
While the current front-line fleet of Algerian Air Force primarily consists of Russian-origin aircraft such as the Sukhoi Su-30 and the MiG-29, Algeria has expressed an interest in acquiring aircraft from China.
