Indonesian Air Force KAI KT-1 Training Aircraft Crashes In Yogyakarta region, Both Pilots Ejected Safely

The Indonesian Air Force KAI KT-1B Woongbi trainer plane crashed under unknown circumstances. Both pilots ejected safely.

Though Wong Bee KT-18 plane was heavily damaged, pilots Sekti Ambarwati and Krisna Nugrahawere able to safely eject before impact in the Yogyakarta region, said Indan Gilang Buldansyah, head of the Air Force Information Service.

The incident occurred at 12.50 p.m. local time (0550GMT) before the planned landing at the Adi Sutjipto Air Base, added Buldansyah.

“The two pilots managed to eject safely. The incident did not cause any casualties as the crash site is an uninhabited area,” Buldansyah told Anadolu Agency.

The two pilots are currently undergoing medical examinations at a military hospital.
