T-35B Pillan trainer Aircraft of Dominican Air Force crashed near Elias Pina

The military trainer plane crashed under unknown circumstances. One pilot died, another was injured.

The aircraft was performing a patrol work on the border with Haiti.

A Pillán airplane of the Dominican Air Force (FAD) rushed to earth leaving one dead and one wounded, according to unofficial information released this Saturday afternoon.

Those affected by the accident are the two pilot pilots of the aircraft, identified as First Lieutenant Kelvin Villanueva Garay and Second Lieutenant Angel Amauri Felix Victoriano, both of the FAD. The latter was treated at the Elías Piña hospital and transferred to the Ramón de Lara Hospital, from the San Isidro air base.

The accident of the plane T-35B Pillán 1803 registration occurred approximately at 10:00 in the morning yesterday. Immediately the Ministry of Defense created a commission to investigate the circumstances in which it occurred.

Minister Lieutenant General Rubén Paulino Sem, Army Dominican Republic, said that officers Villanueva Garay and Félix Vitoriano were carrying out “a mission of service to the Fatherland”, a routine surveillance task as part of the security operation on the border.

Major general Luis Napoleón Payán Díaz, general commander of the FARD, reported that the search and rescue team of that body was activated immediately and two helicopters were sent to the place where the plane fell.

A helicopter prepared for aeromedical evacuation transferred second lieutenant Felix Victoriano to San Isidro, and the other team focused on rescuing the body of First Lieutenant Villanueva Garay.

Payán Díaz thanked the residents near the place where the plane crashed because of the support offered to the occupants of the ship, since they were the first to arrive.
