Ultralight floatplane crash at Santa Rosa Sound off Tiger Point, 1 dead

One killed in an Ultralight floatplane crash at Santa Rosa Sound off Tiger Point, Santa Rosa County, FL – United States of America

The aircraft impacted the waters of Santa Rosa Sound off Tiger Point, Fairport Peninsula, Florida. The seaplane sustained unreported damage and the sole pilot onboard was fatally injured. The pilot body was retrieved from the water.

A male in his 50’s died in an ultralight aircraft accident Monday in Midway just Northeast of Portofino.

According to the Midway Fire Department Chief Jon Kanzigg, the motorized aircraft crashed around noon.

The Midway Fire Department arrived on the scene with a boat at approximately 12:06 p.m.

Fire Chief Kanzigg told us the pilot of the aircraft was pulled from the water by a good Samaritan who helped transferred the victim to the fire boat.

The victim was transported to the Oriole Beach Boat Ramp where he was pronounced dead on at 12:21 p.m.

Florida Fish and Wildlife and Federal Aviation Administration will be conducting the investigation.
