Watch Spanish Air Force EF-18M Hornet Crashes During an Airshow at Zaragoza Airport

A Spanish Air Force McDonnell Douglas EF-18M Hornet, assigned to the 15th squadron (Ala 15) of the Spanish Air Force, was destroyed when it crashed during an airshow at Zaragoza Airport (ZAZ/LEZG), Spain.

The pilot ejected safely. The pilot has been transferred to the Zaragoza Military Hospital.

Visuals of the plane losing control and crashing on the airbase were shared online.

The incident occurred on Saturday morning and involved a McDonnell Douglas EF-18M Hornet fighter jet belonging to the 15th Wing of the Spanish Air Force and it burned down in flames after crashing.

The accident occurred around 12:10 pm (local time).

As the jet nosedived into the air base, the plane plummeted and exploded upon impact. Currently, no casualties have been reported among the civilians and observers nearby.

According to information shared by Air Traffic Controllers, the pilot is a Captain with more than 1,000 flight hours. The pilot would have suffered various injuries of varying degrees to his legs.
