Light aircraft crashed in a field in West Melton , Canterbury

A light Aircraft crashed Old West Coast Rd, near the West Melton Aerodrome .The pilot was not injured.

The crash was reported around On Tuesday about 4.10PM

Police , paramedics  and Fire and Emergency New Zealand crew were sent to the crash site.

According to St John spokesman the paramedics attended  no-one was injured in the crash

The cause of crash is still unknown . The aircraft however sustained minor  damage

Police and the investigators from Civil Aviation Authority  launched a  investigation into the cras

The Aircraft Belong to Canterbury Aero Club which is located  west side of Christchurch International Airport, at Harewood Aviation Park , about 8km from the centre of the city.

Canterbury Aero Club is the oldest Aeroclub of new zealand
