on Jul. 18, 2019 In a surprise appearance, Tom Cruise took the stage at Paramount Pictures’ Comic-Con panel to introduce footage from Top Gun: Maverick, his long-awaited follow-up to Top Gun.

A new trailer for Top Gun: Maverick dropped Monday, giving fans a better idea of what to expect from the sequel to the 1986 classic.

Tom Cruise returns as Capt. Pete “Maverick” Mitchell, now a flight school instructor whose talents and exploits are a legend.

One of his students is Lt. Bradley “Rooster” Bradshaw (Miles Teller), a pilot trainee and son of the late Nick “Goose” Bradshaw (Anthony Edwards).

“Good morning aviators, this is your captain speaking. Today’s exercise is dogfighting.” We got our second look at Top Gun: Maverick on Monday, as Paramount Pictures released another trailer the upcoming flyboy sequel starring the ageless Tom Cruise. It seems daring pilot Pete “Maverick” Mitchell has lost none of his skills since the original Top Gun came out in 1986, and is ready to take our breath away all over again.

This new adventure sees Maverick working as test pilot and training a fresh group of Top Gun graduates. He also encounters Bradley “Rooster” Bradshaw (Miles Teller), who’s the son of his late friend Goose.

A little more than two minutes long, the spot for the Paramount Pictures’ film is packed full of action and, of course, some motorcycle riding.

In addition to Cruise, the movie stars Jennifer Connelly, Jon Hamm, Glen Powell, Lewis Pullman, Ed Harris, and Val Kilmer, who reprises his memorable role of Ice Man.

Top Gun: Maverick flies into theaters on June 26, 2020.
