In Mali, French soldiers of the operation Barkhane were attacked on Sunday, July 1, on the outskirts of Gao, by armed men aboard at least one Vehicle. The attack has according to a provisional assessment six dead including two soldiers of the French forces and several wounded
The attack took place in the Second Ward of Gao as the convoy of two VBCIs headed for the Bourem post.
The two 8×8 IFVs of the French Army were quite heavily damaged, and smoke was emerging from one of them.
Mali has seen many spectacular armed actions in recent days. A complex attack occurred, for example, in Sévaré against the G5Sahel Joint Force headquarters on June 29, 2018.
